Inspiration
Life inspires me. The question
"what would Life choose?" helps me to navigate our current
challenging times. As at 2021, the world seems to have turned upside down
and often defies logic, common sense, and our humanity. We are being
faced with uncertainty and the unknown on a daily basis.
I have always had a love affair with nature and I draw strength from being in
it. I feel most at home near the ocean and surrounded by trees and wide
open spaces. I love swimming in the ocean and walking pilgrimage routes,
having walked many hundred kilometers in Spain and Portugal.
Nature informs and nourishes me because left to its own devices, it is
abundant, generative, creative and beautiful. We ARE part of nature and
we too can grow and thrive in strength and beauty. I believe that is our
natural birthright and very possible, even when life happens and the external
circumstances are far from ideal.
Background
I was born in Japan and grew up in Tokyo,
highly influenced by my international school upbringing with a focus on
honouring diversity, living with an open and earnest heart and standing up for
social justice. My formative years were not easy as I struggled with
various health problems and a sense of being caught between two cultures.
When I finished school, I moved to Australia for university, where it took many
years of concerted effort to heal myself. I know how long psychotherapy
takes, both as a client and as a clinician. I offer something that is
quicker, more affordable and a powerful alternative to accelerate people's
healing.
Training
I am a psychotherapist, group facilitator and
educator with 20 years experience. I completed my training at the Jansen
Newman Institute in Sydney in 2000, where I studied counselling and
psychotherapy and undertook further training in somatic psychotherapy and
self-psychology.
I ran a private counselling and psychotherapy
practice in Sydney for 10 years and have also worked for government
and not-for-profit agencies in Australia and the UK specialising in
relationships, counselling, mental health, mood disorders, adoption and child
protection. I was also a lecturer in counselling and social care and have
run workshops on self-esteem, anger management, domestic violence,
relationships, and parenting.
In more recent years, I discovered I had the
"gift of sight", and I believe it can help reduce the time it takes
for those who sincerely want to work on themselves. My wish is to help
you access your light and to increase mastery of your life so that you can find
your way through these changing times.
